Spiritual Sweetness

“The fly that clings to honey hinders its flight, and the soul that allows itself attachment to spiritual sweetness hinders its own liberty and contemplation.”

  1. I think a good interpretation of this would be: “Don’t let the good feelings of the moment prevent you from searching for the truth in any aspect of life.”

I very much agree with this. What if the truth requires you to eliminate something that you have felt very good about in your life? What if, once you get past the difficult trial of emotional pangs and the sense of loss, there is something even greater and more profoundly pleasurable waiting on the other side? Would you have the courage to let go of your current bit of spiritual honey?

Have you ever read Atlas Shrugged?
